I need to learn to keep up on this blog thingie here! LOL So...some observations that I have had recently while out and about in Yucaipa. Saw a girl in Ross wearing every shade of green imaginable and about 10x too small...eeek! The funny part was watching her try on 3" silver sparkly heels with the outfit and then buying them...just struck me as funny at the moment. Went to the bank yesterday and saw 2 men in baggy pants with suspenders holding them up AND a man in full on overalls - and people wonder why I say I live in Mayberry - haha They were cute old men, but again...struck that funny bone and I got the giggles. All I could think of was The Beverly Hillbillies - tee hee. Then the cherry on top was this morning when Yucaipa made the news - and it was not for snowfall - people arrested in cock-fighting ring....I think I busted something while laughing so hard. And remember officer nice-nice??? You people know he is there...why do you speed?? I was driving at the speed limit on Oak Glen the other morning headed to the freeway and this SUV got right up on my ass....well I was not going to speed up - I know better after my ticket. So I am watching in my mirror and I see another car on his ass going into the turn....I am still not moving because I am pegged at the speed limit. Low and behold that SUV takes off like an idiot around me and guess what----The cop was the car on his ass!!! HAHAHAHA popped him immediately. See..shoulda stuck to the speed limit dummy!
I really am trying to warm up to this town..really I am. Maybe that is why I have taken to laughing at everything rather than crying because I am stuck there?? Hmmmm we will see :o)

Is it Yucaipan or Yucaipian?
I have seen it spelled and heard it said both ways...and either way, I am not one of them. It has now been 2 and a half months since we moved to Yucaipa and I do not like it any better than I did on that first day. Let me explain myself..... It is probably not that I dislike Yucaipa itself, although the jury is still out, it is that I hate the reason that I had to move there. We, like about 80% of Americans now a days, were hit HARD by this economy and ended up losing our home. So, since the kids' mom lives in Yucaipa and we have 50/50 custody, it just seemed like the place to move...in an effort to make it easier on everyone. I had thought that everyone included me, but the more I think about it, the more I realize that I got the friggin short end of the stick in all of this. I have no friends there, my work and school schedule makes it so 2 days a week I am gone for 18 hours and the rest of the days I am trying to study and catch up, and I hate the commute (yes, I consider 40 minutes a commute!). Okay, enough bitching about me. Here are the happenings in the last month or so....
On a positive note, I find that Yucaipa is really pretty and the sunset is absolutely beautiful. We have tried a few restaurants and here is my take on them.... I never in a million years thought I would say this - but if you want good food...go to Mentone! Yes, I said it and I can't believe it! Arthurs is a great breakfast place and Johnny's Taco's is awesome as well - with nightly specials that are pretty nicely priced :o) Stay away from Hickory Ranch in Yucaipa, unless you have a lot of money to spend on a steak dinner that you could have paid a lot less for at Spunky Steer and had the same meal. We tried Jose's and I don't have much to say since all I had was a salad, but the hubby said his was pretty good. We also recently went to Casa Trejo off of County Line and their food was pretty good also.
That is about all the positive I have in me for today! I promise next time I will say something nice..perhaps after my doggie gets fixed, I will have something nice to say about the vet! haha
Till then...

Welcome to Yucaipa - Part 2
So there have been a lot of events that have taken place in the last week….. Thanksgiving morning was absolutely beautiful so I went out in the front yard and snapped some pictures of the view from our yard at 7:00am. Too bad there is a house in front of ours, the sunrise would be a lot prettier if they would demo that house :o)
Went to Crestline for Thanksgiving and it was great! Friday we pulled out all of the Christmas decorations and did our thing with that. The house looks cute, I sure wish it had a fireplace to hang the stockings on (not to mention keep us warm..keep reading this part comes up again).
Saturday morning we woke up to rain and a lot of wind….that quickly cleared up and the sun peaked out. Got out of bed and looked out the window and the mountains outside of my house were FULL of snow!!! It was beautiful so I took some more pictures. We then decided to head up to Oak Glen to get into the snow a little. That was great, the boys and my hubby had a snowball fight, made mini-snowmen and chased each other all over the place. Took a lot of pictures that came out really good.
Sunday, we decided to go exploring and ended up in Forest Falls which was really cute as well. We had eaten at the La Mexicana in Oak Glen so decided to stop at the location in FF to grab some nacho’s to share…service was outstanding and the nacho’s hit the spot! Somehow my SD card on the camera took a crap and I could not take any pictures…total bummer! Especially since I had about 1500-2000 photos on the dang card….taught me a lesson in printing pictures – that’s for sure. Anyhow…on the way back down the hill we pulled over at a picnic spot and Landon and I got out and hiked back to the water…OMG – it was sooo beautiful back there! We are definitely going to have to go back and take some pics and have a picnic!
So…with the good comes the bad in my life – so here it is! Got home on Tuesday and there was a friggin lock box on my gas meter!!! They claim that they do not have anything on file that I turned the gas on…ummmm then how the hell was it on??? Anyhow, I argued with one person that told me the soonest they can turn it on is Saturday – ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? So, I got a Stupid-visor named Ms. Brown on the phone who was absolutely rude from the gate. She – acting like she was doing me a favor – was able to get them to come out on Thursday…I begged, pleased, cried and yelled at this woman and she was a total and complete witch. It is too long of a story to go into…but in the end I lost and the last two days have been me taking a “bath” with water that I heated up in the microwave! Do you have any idea how long it takes to nuke enough water to sufficiently wash yourself..much less long hair!!! I was soo cold after taking my makeshift bath that I put my underwear on sideways because I was in such a hurry to get dressed…hahahaha Thank god they are coming out today to turn it on…it was 39 degrees last night and I froze my butt off!!!
Hmmm…what else do I have to add?? Oh yes..a few observations..
We really like Shorters…the bartender Daryl is a real sweetie! And they are having drink specials all month for Christmas…so get on in there!
I hear that Kopper Kettle Kafe is really good…but I am having some issues with the name…is it me or are their initials KKK for a reason??? I sure hope not, because that would not be good at all!
Unfortunately the Thrift store that I was itching to go to totally did not meet my expectations. I won’t say which one it is, but I probably won’t go back.
Had Bonita’s again…still yummy!
Ross is still the only place to shop…and I finally got in there without a mile long line and got a few deals for X-mas…go me!
I have stopped referring to Yucaipa as Mayberry…I have a new name :o)

Thank god I wore comfy clothes to work today!
So, I have been agonizing over the fact that I now live 38.8 miles away from work...as opposed to the 7.1 via only side streets that I was use to for 7 years! The agonizing part is not the daily drive, I am actually enjoying my time to listen to my class lectures repeatedly (I think this stuff is starting to stick!), but the fact that I have to do it TODAY of all days!! Today is the day before Thanksgiving - aka the busiest traffic day of the entire year!!! GREAT! So, I just finished mapping out my route...which takes me through Ontario, Fontucky and Rialto just to get to Colton and hop on the freeway..... am I scared - HELL YEA! But you people who think it is because of the cities I have to get through are mistaken....it is because I can't see for sh*t in the dark on side streets, and I am going a long ways on unknown side streets...look out folks this could make for a wild ride! I could put my glasses on...but those are just for reading and I would have to crash into someone before I could actually see their license plate in the dark! I should have taken a vacation day today! I am anticipating my 40 minute drive to take me anywhere from an hour and 45 minutes to 2 and a half hours....we shall see. I think I am going to go to the vending machine and get a Monster and some Skittles for the ride! This sucks - I sure hope Yucaipa is worth all of this headache!
Sincerely,
Negative Nelly!

Not a whole heck of a lot going on...unless you shop at Ross!
Not too much going on last weekend either - I don't really anticipate too much going on anyhow, but I have my hopes up and I am not being negative about my adventure....I am just looking for something to do other than sit in the house. We had soccer in Rancho on Saturday and went to the movies in Ontario on Sunday...not too much going on in Yucaipa. We did head up to Oak Glen yesterday and walked around a little - cute place. I got some nice pictures of scenery on the way home I will have to post them here soon.
I need to know when is a good time to go to Ross - I have been in there 3 times now and the line goes all the way to the back of the store...am I missing something here - are they really giving things away and I just didn't notice??
We will be home Saturday AND Sunday - all weekend.....I am determined to find something cool to do!! I am thinking we need to find a place to hike around.....if anyone followed this blog I could probably get suggestions....LOL

All I wanted was breakfast!!!
So on Saturday at 9:00am we decided to go find some breakfast - I never thought it was going to be such a task! And I guess it is partially my fault.... A few friends told me that Casa Trejo was AWESOME...so I got on my navigator thing on my phone to find County Line Road (remember, I am still new to town) and we find it...CLOSED! So we end up on the freeway back to Live Oak and over to Yucaipa Blvd. Found another Mexican place...CLOSED!! There is a Denny's maybe...but the parking lot was jam packed - DUH..it is the only friggen place to eat before 11:00 - haha So we head back up Yucaipa Blvd. over to Bonita's - they were OPEN!!!! YAY...AND we had the best food - we loved it! If you like hot stuff...ask for their hot green sauce. It looks kind of like Wasabi in that is is kind of a paste - but it is soooooo hot and sooooo good! It is the little orange place that has outdoor seating only...I have a feeling that we will be getting it to go here shortly as it gets cold.
Nothing else to report this week...it has been pretty low key. Hoping for new adventures this weekend as we have all day Sunday to go exploring - I am thinking Oak Glen sounds nice :o)

Can't say I didn't warn you!
I guess I need to get more people to read my blog - LOL Because sure enough I saw Officer "Nice Nice" giving someone a ticket again this morning! I was being a perfect law abiding citizen driving down Yucaipa Blvd....eating my PB&J breakfast, listening to my microbiology lecture and watching my 40mph speed the whole way and then BAM - right by the freeway he had someone in a little red car pulled over. I sure hope he was as nice to them as he was to me and it did not ruin their day :-D
No news to report on my Yucaipa adventures...I had study session last night and did not get home until after the street lights were on....I was coming up Yucaipa Blvd. at 7:49pm and I literally watched the lights at Danny's Pizza turn off....that just seems way early to me - Oh well, I guess I will have to check that place out on the weekend.
